The strength of solid wood is higher than ordinary plywood. Pressure treated plywood resists damage from water, weather, decay and insects., and more items. Paintable plywood readily accepts paint and laminate for a unique and customized appearance. When choosing plywood or a plywood alternative, consider these features as well: Stainable plywood provides an already sanded surface that accepts stain well to create a natural-looking finish. How is plywood different from regular wood? Staple the cutout to the wood every few inches near both the top and bottom of the board. Place the clean wood on a level surface, and then stand the cutout in front of it so the wood touches the bottom back side of the cutout - the wood should be centered behind the cutout. Stand a sheet of 1/2-inch interior-grade plywood in the grooves of the stands and center it each way. Attach each end of the pine to the corresponding stand with a pair of deck screws. Place the pine flat atop the stands at one of the angled sides. Position a pair of stands 36 inches apart and parallel. The fold of the cardboard points out, so together it forms a triangle with the cutout. Unfold the cardboard slightly and match the slits up on the stand and the cutout, on the back of the cutout. Cut matching slits on the top of each half of the folded cardboard. Cut a piece of one-by-six pine 36 inches long as a stabilizer for the stands.Ĭut slits in the bottom of the cutout several inches from each side and 4 inches deep. Cut the plywood across the bottom of the grooves with a wood chisel and hammer to remove the section of plywood at a groove. ![]()
